RA CH 4
On chapter four the main idea of the chapter was based on the resources of evidence. The first thing that the author addressed was that all evidence that is being used whether that is in a speech or in a paper has to be judged by two criterias. Those two criterias are “What are its logical or empirical strengths and limitations?”(p.87) and “ what are its psychological powers?”(p.87). Toward the middle of the reading the author states that visuals can work in two ways as evidence. Visuals can either reinforce a point or the visual can turn out to be its own presentation.
RPC CH 5
Chapter five on reading pop culture focuses on the influence that television has in the american culture. A decade ago family would would sit around the television and watch TV for hours but now a days it's so difficult to even find time to sit around the kitchen dining table and have dinner with the family. Throughout the reading they also address how television is better than movies. Television is better because they have more resources to grab the audience's attention. For example if its a TV show they have the opportunity to make many episodes and eventually seasons to tell one story compared to a movie where they have at most 3 hours to tell a whole story. If a movie producers plans to add on to a movie the production of a new film can take up to many months to years. Thats is why television is better than movies.
