RA CH 7
Rhetorical act on chapter 7 is based on the resources of language. Something new that I learned in this chapter about language is that language isn't necessarily spanish, english or portuguese, Language can also be the pitch, color, movement and space. Something else that I took away from this chapter is that something that we commonly do is abstracting. For example we can say thats my car but we don't necessarily go into detail of the car. We don't go in depth into all the details such as the color of the car the year or style of the car. When we do abstracting we don't realize how many details we leave outside when we are talking about a certain object or subject.
RPC CH 6
On chapter six Creating The Myth the author Linda Seger writes about how we can identify with superheroes because we tend to go through very similar circumstances and we relate to them. Most of these films like to talk about the basic journey that we take in life. Also we identify with these superheroes not just because they have experienced what we have gone through but because we wish we could do what the superheroes are doing. Another reading in chapter six was The Asian Renovation by Gates. This reading talked about how asians are portrayed in hollywood films for example in rush hour Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker work together as a team you rarely see a asian playing a solo part in a film as the main actor. This reading was something that I can relate to because aside from asians not playing a important role in films hispanics also don't play these important roles. Most of the time you will find yourself seeing a hispanic in a film and they will be either playing the bab sitter role or the house mate role.
